Welcome to Fuel and Fortune. Before beginning, you can configure the race logistics, track size, AI competitors, and the underlying deck probabilities from the Setup Screen.
AI Profiles: AI opponents are automatically assigned a hidden risk profile (Aggressive, Mixed, or Cautious) which dynamically shifts based on their track position.
Dynamic Turn Order: If enabled in the setup, the turn order is recalculated at the end of every round. The player currently leading the race will always take the first turn in the next round.
2. Movement & Fuel
Managing your fuel is the key to maintaining pace and keeping your options open during crucial overtaking moments.
Base Movement: By default, every car moves 1 or 2 spaces per turn without spending any fuel or cards.
Burning Fuel: You start the race with the amount of fuel specified in setup, up to 5 units. You can optionally burn fuel during your turn to move faster. 1 Fuel = 1 Extra Space.
Minimum Fuel:You must cross the start/finish line or pit exit with at least 1 unit of fuel on board, at all times - even at the end of the race. If you attempt to cross the start/finish line without fuel, you are instantly warped back to the Pit Entry.
Stacking: Cards can be stacked with fuel to extend moves. However, cards & fuel cannot be deployed to counter a penalty.
3. The Pit Lane
The Pit Lane allows you to replenish your fuel reserves, but comes with heavy speed restrictions.
Entering: To enter the pits, you must safely navigate to the designated Pit Entry segment. You can choose to enter, which pulls you off the main track and instantly grants you +1 Fuel.
Speed Limit: While inside the pit lane, your base movement is restricted to 1 space per turn. You are forbidden from burning fuel to move faster, and you may not use Chance Cards.
Refuelling: Every pit segment you traverse grants you +1 Fuel automatically.
Skipping: If you are satisfied with your fuel level, you may use the "Skip Refuelling" button to instantly fast-forward to the end of the fuel line in pit lane.
Pit Exit: Once on the last empty Pit segment before crossing the Pit exit line, the speed limit is lifted. You may drive normally and deploy cards and / or fuel on your next turn. Both the Pit Entry and Pit Exit act as Safe Zones.
4. Overtaking & Collisions
If you finish your movement on a segment that is already occupied by another car, you trigger an Overlap (an overtaking maneuver). Overlaps automatically draw a card from the hidden Overtake Deck.
Safe Pass: You successfully navigate around the defending car. No penalties.
Racing Incident: Contact is made! You successfully pull alongside, but lose all held chance cards.
Crash: A serious collision. You are out of the race temporarily. Your car is disabled, your cards are wiped, and the Safety Car is immediately deployed. The defending car is unharmed.
Note: The Pit Entry and Pit Exit segments are designated Safe Zones. Multiple cars can stack on these spaces without triggering an Overlap risk.
5. Chance Cards
Landing on a segment marked with a blue dot triggers a draw from the Chance Deck. You may hold a maximum of 3 holdable cards in your hand. If you draw a 4th, you will be prompted to discard one.
Card Stacking: Only "Avoid Crash" can be stacked with other cards. Cards can be stacked with fuel to extend moves. However, cards & fuel cannot be deployed to counter a penalty.
Instant Effects:
Conserved Fuel (+1 Fuel): Instantly added to your tank.
Heavy Right Foot: You burned too much gas. Instantly lose 1 Fuel.
Track Limits: Penalty applied. Instantly discard your entire hand.
Lost Traction: You spun the tires. On your next turn, your maximum movement is locked to exactly 1 space (no fuel burning allowed).
Debris on Track: Triggers an immediate Safety Car.
Holdable Cards:
Good Exit (+4 Spaces): Play on your turn to boost your base movement to 4 spaces instead of 1 or 2.
Late Brake (+3 Escape): A specialized passing card. You may only play this card if you are starting your turn on a segment occupied by another car. Boosts your base movement to 3 spaces to guarantee a clean getaway.
Avoid Crash: The most valuable card in the game. You DO manually click Avoid crash to activate it before making an overlapping move to guarantee a Safe Pass, bypassing the Overtake Deck entirely.
6. The Safety Car
When deployed (via Crash or Debris), the race halts and all normal movement is suspended for the designated SC Duration.
Phase 1 - Bunching: The SC picks up the current race leader. All other drivers are automatically warped forward to line up bumper-to-bumper behind the leader.
Crash Catch-up: If enabled in the setup rules, the player who caused the Crash will be towed to the absolute back of the SC queue. If disabled, crashed players remain stranded at the exact segment where they crashed.
Phase 2 - Advancing: The safety car advances, together with the field, for the number of segments specified in the setup screen. Pit stops are permitted during this phase.
Phase 3 - Green Flag: The SC pulls away. The race resumes starting with the player whose turn was interrupted by the crash.
Players exiting the pits behind the safety car while it is moving will be allowed to catch up to the following pack. Players exiting the pits ahead of the safety car while it is moving may keep their position ahead of the leader on track but move forward at the same pace as the safety car and following players.
7. Winning & Post-Race Awards
The first player to complete the designated number of laps wins the race! However, secondary glory is awarded on the final standings dashboard based on your statistical performance throughout the race:
Leadfoot: Awarded to the driver who burned the most fuel.
Lucky Dog: Awarded to the driver who deployed the highest combined number of positive chance cards.
Pro Racer: Awarded to the driver who utilized the most 'Good Exit' boosts.
Elbows Out: Awarded to the driver who executed the most successful, penalty-free Overlaps.
Squeaky Clean: Awarded to the driver who suffered the fewest combined crashes and racing incidents.
Not Your Day: Awarded to the driver who lost the most positions relative to their starting grid slot.
